AUX ("we," "our," or "us") is a social music app that lets you rate albums, write reviews, and share your taste with friends. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights around it.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use AUX, we may collect the following:

Account information — your name, email address, username, and profile picture, either entered directly or provided through Google Sign-In.
Content you create — album reviews, star ratings, favorites, lists, and any other content you post.
Activity data — albums you've viewed, searches you've performed, and interactions with other users (follows, likes).
Device information — device type and operating system, used to ensure the app functions correctly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account.
Display your profile, reviews, and activity to you and other users.
Power search, discovery, and social features within the app.
Send transactional emails (e.g., account verification, password reset) when applicable.
Improve and maintain the app.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data to serve third-party advertisements.

3. Third-Party Services

AUX uses the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Your account data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure. See supabase.com/privacy.
Google Sign-In — if you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email, and profile picture with us. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Spotify API — used to fetch album and track metadata. We do not access your Spotify account or listening history.
Last.fm API — used to fetch album tags and genre information. No personal data is shared with Last.fm.
Resend — used to send transactional emails. See resend.com/privacy.

4. Data Sharing

Your reviews, ratings, and profile are visible to other AUX users by default — that's the nature of a social app. We do not share your email address or private account details with other users.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and security of our users and service.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information and content from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information in your profile.
Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Withdraw consent for data processing where consent is the basis for processing.

7. Children's Privacy

AUX is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage and secure HTTPS connections. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of AUX after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
